April 23, 2009 – On Wednesday, April 22nd, the election results for the 2009-2010 University of Cincinnati Student Government representatives were announced.
Tim Lolli, a 4th-year Marketing major in the College of Business, was elected as the Student Government President for 2009-2010 as a part of Slate 97, along with Vice-Presidential running mate Douglas Ealy, a 4th-year interpersonal communications student. Slate 97 received 3,886 votes, compared to 2,744 votes received by Slate 83, consisting of Ryan Pontsler and Leif Edgar, both also from the College of Business.
In developing their campaign for Slate 97, Tim and Doug focused on creating a more highly engaged campus, increasing student services, and developing progressive partnerships, with a key focus on enriching and embracing diversity, both at UC and in the Cincinnati community. The election was a well-fought match between two highly-qualified teams of candidates.
President-Elect Lolli, a true marketer at heart, used clever marketing tactics to raise awareness of Slate 97's campaign, including an opportunity to throw a pie in the face of the candidates, and handing out lollipops with their slogans “Don't let Lolli get licked” and “Vote Early, Vote Ealy”.
Lolli and Ealy will officially be inaugurated as President and Vice-President in early May.
